3 Things That You Should Do On Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend is here! Whether you are on vacation with the family or staying around home and catching up on yard work, this weekend gives us an extra day to enjoy off of work. But, there is so much more to this holiday than your three day weekend.

Memorial Day is dedicated to remembering those who serve, and those who have died, in active military service. While we are grateful for our freedom and for the sacrifices that those in the armed services make every day, this is an important day to highlight your gratitude. That is why we put together a list of three things you should do on Memorial Day!

  1. Thank a service member. We all know someone who is serving. Whether it is a brother, a cousin, or a cousin of a friend, it is important to extend gratitude. A simple, “Thank you for your service” goes a long way.
  2. Buy from a local company. Buying “American Made” is a great way to support our country that the active duty service men and women work so hard to protect. Better yet, buy from a veteran owned company. Veteran companies often strive to help active service members in new and exciting ways. For example, in light of Memorial Day, the Black Coffee Rifle Company donated a bag of coffee to overseas troops for every bag purchased for the majority of May.
  3. Support our troops. We aren’t getting political here – what we are saying is, support the men and women who sacrifice so much every day to serve our country. Whether you agree or disagree with the circumstances, taking care of active and veteran service members is the least that we can do in return. Maybe you fly an American flag, or tie a yellow ribbon on a tree, or share something supportive on social media…however you choose to show support is up to you!

There is no insurance plug in this one – just an opportunity to remind our wonderful clients about the importance behind Memorial Day. We hope that you have a safe and enjoyable weekend!
